St. Philip’s College has appointed Dr. Onimi Wilcox as its new Dean of Academic Success for the Arts & Sciences Division, bringing more than two decades of leadership in higher education to the role.
Dr. Wilcox joins the college with an extensive background in project management, academic administration, and curriculum development. She most recently served as a Project Manager at Analytic & Business Intelligenz, where she oversaw data systems and strategic reporting in Texas and Maryland.
Her prior leadership roles include serving as dean at Joliet Junior College, Lee College, and Prairie View A&M University. In those capacities, she provided oversight of general education, STEM, liberal arts, and accreditation initiatives, developing innovative strategies to support institutional growth and student achievement.
At St. Philip’s College, Dr. Wilcox will lead the Arts and Sciences Division, collaborating with faculty and staff to strengthen academic programs and champion student success.
“As a servant leader, I understand the landscape and culture of SPC,” Wilcox said. “My mission is to make a positive change in the lives of our students and support the incredible work of the employees here.”
A proud graduate of Howard University, Dr. Wilcox holds a Ph.D. in Communication Studies and earned all three of her degrees from the historically Black university. She said her educational experience continues to shape her commitment to excellence in education.
“I’m proud to be part of a college that holds a core value of students-first,” she said. “Together, we can continue to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed.”
